Anyway, Gonna post about ANZAC Day. ANZAC is Australia and New Zealand Army Corp. It's a big thing in Australia and NZ but the event is also celebrated in a few countries such as Turkey, France, certain parts in Indonesia to name a few.
I am not gonna talk about how ANZAC Day came from or whatever. Please feel free to go here
http://en.wikipedia.com/wiki/ANZAC_day for more information. It's always good to learn more about history, right? *ehem* WFatt *ehem*
Anyway, the parade start at 9.20am and we reached there at 9.15am. It was already crowded at that time. The only enthusiasm and patriotic spirit comparable by us Malaysian is during our National Day aka Merdeka Day, or during demonstration against the government.
Highly decorated veteran spotted!
Many of the veterans once served and protected Malaya and Malaysia during WW2, Anti-communist campaign and especially Confrontation by Indonesia when Malaysia is formed. The banners below have Malaya or Malaysia or Singapore on it. More can be viewed on my facebook pics though. The thing that really separate Australia and Malaysia is Aussie government really care, respect and APPRECIATE what their fellow countrymen and women had sacrificed to give their younger generation a bettr future. Families of the fallen or veteran are well taken care of and are often invited to walk in the parade so that the spirit and tradition of ANZAC day can be remembered for as long as possible. Now shame on you Malaysian politicians for saying so many sad, childish and disgusting stuffs at your own rakyat.
It was really an eye opening event. Many people shouted THANK YOU GUYS!!!! to the veterans and other armed forced. And I saw this veteran pushing his wheelchair bounded comrade and he was saying THANK YOU.....THANK YOU when he walked pass the crowd, all the way till the end of the journey. The sense of pride, honour and patriotism has never been so overwhelming to me before.
The veteran with the hat on was posted to Malaya before in 1953. Based in Ipoh!
And then something really caught my eye and it was one of the most touching and memorable sight ever............................
An old lady waving her mini Aussie flag when the veteran pass by........ With such patriotism that many younger generation will not have nor appreciate.
